HOU YING /

Tu Tu (literally, Scribbled Colors)

Tu tu, the color of the beginning of the world.

Now we glimpse wistfully back at Pina Bausch, in the meantime, like an eager, amorous tramp, we are looking to a new generation of dance artists, such as Hou Ying, such as her Tu Tu.

To say that Tu Tu has a theme, maybe I can say like this: a gang of girls and boys play like crazy, scribbling the colors all over the body, all over the ground, and so let the sky and the earth have the same colors as they do, so that even time has become a carrier of scribbled colors. Colors even out the earth, the sky and time, and integrate them into perpetuity.

In Hou Ying’s world you won’t find many colors. Although she fills the world with colors, you still feel there is a color hunger, a wasteland of colors.
